Early in the morning, We visited the flying area in Villa Pesquera Isabela. We had the visit of the international pilot, Frank Holz, who lives and flies in Florida, USA. He had come to our school on the recommendation of our Florida pilot friends from Cloud Base PPG, London Ivey and Ernest Ely.
Unsurprisingly, Frank was not used to flying in winds above 15 mph. For this reason, Luis Ruiz gave him a 22-meter Apco F1 sports paraglider, which Frank was practicing for some minutes on the ground to get used to its reactions.
After the practices, we decided to fly. Frank was using a Fly Products Eclipse Moster Paramotor and the F1, while Luis was going up with the SkyMax Pulsar and an 18 meter BGD Luna2 paraglider.
Frank took flight on his second attempt, and kept flying around Isabela for about 1 1/2 hours, until burn all his gas. Everything was perfect, although in the process of landing Frank had problems with his approach in windy conditions. He fell in some small bushes. Fortunately, it did not go too bad and Frank gained experience of how to do it better next time.
At the end of the morning, Luis Ruiz received the student/pilot Angelo Ávila, who arrived with his brother from Bayamon. The winds were getting too strong to fly. We took the opportunity to deliver Angelo his new ParaJet Maverick Sport, with a latest generation Vittorazi Moster Factory R engine.
Soon we will have Angelo on the air with his new equipment, but for now he has to make the “Break In” of the engine during the week.
