Thursday to Sunday, October 13 – 16, 2022 – Corona Pro Surf Adventure in Isabela…

We spent four days assisting to Isabela. We took the opportunity to combine our Paramotor flights with the International Surfing Event, the Corona Pro Surf 2022. Every year the Organizer of the Event makes a stop with professional surfers at Isabela’s “Middles” Beach. We have excellent flight weather all four days, and here we go with a day-to-day summary of our activities in Isabela.

Thursday, October 13, 2022…

Excellent weather from very early in the morning. After several months of absence, we had the presence of the Team Kamikazes pilot, Ted Sowinski, who was returning to the island after fulfilling professional commitments abroad. Along with Ted, were present, Instructor Luis Ruiz, local pilot Charles Riggs, along with student/pilot Angelo Ávila and his brother Eliud, who was pending to make a Demo flight with Luis.

Angelo arrived to use for first time his new Parajet Maverick Moster Factory R MY22 paramotor. During the week he gave the corresponding “Break In” to the Paramotor and today came the opportunity to take it to fly for the first time. Luis Ruiz provided Angelo a noble BGD Wasp Size L glider. This paraglider is easy to handle and surely Angelo would enjoy it a lot flying around. Eventually, his take off and landing were excellent and he kept flying for an hour around the area 💪.

Everybody flew in the morning, Ted, Charles, Angelo and Luis flying alongside Eliud. All flying with excellence, and in the case of Angelo, adding one more flight in his short career in the sport.

With the arrival of the weekend, the number of people who will attend or participate in the Surfing Event increase. All the scaffolding was already assembled and everything was ready. Except for the waves that were kind of low for this type of event 😕. But at least for flying the weather was perfect…

Pilots present in the activity were, Charles Riggs and his son Evan, Ted Sowinski, and Luis Ruiz. While arriving by air, flying from Hatillo were, Edgardo Rivera, Omar Colon, Ray Malave and Samuel Travis. They landed and have a good time sharing before flying back to Hatillo. Well in reality, Edgardo and Samuel flew back and Omar and Ray returned by car with Wilnelia due to mechanical equipment failure.

Again excellent weather to fly. Ted Sowinski, Pablo Cruz and his wife Millie and Luis Ruiz would arrive very early to prepare everything. Alberto Sabah also arrived, but in a different way. He Take Off from the yard in front of his house and came to fly with us. Eventually in the afternoon he returned to his house by the same method 💪.

Meanwhile, Kamikazes family kept coming to our activities during the morning. Jessica arrived with Noah, Ricardo Gonzalez with his wife Ermelinda, Sammy Badillo and Eric Román arrived from Levittown, ready to fly after months of absence.

The new friend Harold Rosales came from Camuy to Live his Flight Experience. Instructor Luis Ruiz made Harold’s flight and later took his son Noah Enrique to another fly in the area. In fact, a Video made by Luis, while flying with Noah, was the sensation of the Corona Pro Surf event. The sponsors and executives of the event liked it very much. Was notable that the video was taken without much planning, but both the shots and the music created something very special, where you can see the magnitude of the event. The one-minute video is shared here…

Meanwhile, at one point, the pilots Edgardo Rivera, Omar Colon and Danis Rodríguez arrived flying from Hatillo. Along with them, they were followed by other pilots, who, upon learning of the Cross journey that Edgardo was going to make, coordinate with him in order to follow on the Cross adventure. Later these pilots fly back to Hatillo.

As for Eric Román, this student/pilot has not been able to fly his new Paramotor Parajet Maverick Moster, and today was the day. His Paramotor was flown by Luis Ruiz in Loiza last week making sure everything was in order with the unit and the setup. Eric spent some time kiting with the paraglider on ground as a warm-up. Eventually, he successfully Take Off and goes flying for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Even he reached an altitude of more than 1,000 ft!!! His landing also was very good. By the time he landed, both his mother and a cousin were waiting for him at the landing area. Congratulations 💪!!!

As part of the Kamikazes family, and as is our tradition, we celebrate by surprise Omar Colon’s birthday. He did not see it coming and was emotional by the moment lived. And as always, he didn’t escape having to break the piñata. Congratulations!!!!
