Taking advantage of excellent flight conditions, we had a very active week. All these days we went to Villa Pesquera Isabela, and here are the stories of the week…
Tuesday, May 16, 2023…
In the afternoon we went to Villa Pesquera Isabela. As we mentioned, the weather was excellent for flying. Luis Ruiz was carrying out some Demo Flights to people who came to Live their Flight experiences. He was accompanied by pilots Sammy Badillo and Alberto Sabah.
For Live their flight experience were Angel, his wife María and brother-in-law Leo, they arrived from Chicago, USA. Also arriving from Arecibo was, Kimberly, who was completing her flight that had been left pending last week.
All the flights were carried successfully and each one of the people lived a unique flight experience. And that’s what it’s all about 🙏!!!
Wednesday, May 17, 2023…
This time, the weather conditions were good in the morning and there were rains in the afternoon. Luis Ruiz took advantage of the morning to carry out a demo flight for Sonia, who was celebrating her birthday. She came with her boyfriend Carlos Quintana from the town of Moca.
The takeoff was challenging, since there was not much wind and Luis had to use his biggest Tandem glider (Apco Play 42) to make this flight. Before leaving the place, Luis took advantage of the excellent weather to take a solo flight along the entire coast. Simply was so Good, that we should not leave without at least a short fly on it…
Thursday, May 18, 2023… New Height Record in a Paramotor in Puerto Rico!!!
Once again we returned to Villa Pesquera Isabela, and again there were excellent flying conditions. This time Luis Ruiz was accompanied by the pilots, his son Ian Darrell, Abner Ramos, Darwin Hernández and Alberto Sabah, who flew in from his home, as he normally do.
In the case of Abner and Darwin, they arrived with a plan and with extra cloth for the “Cold air”. This was because their plan is that taking advantage of the excellent weather conditions, they were going to try to fly high, very high… Both had previously flown to heights of over 8,000 ft+ on several occasions and today they would try to climb a little higher than that… More on this later in the story…
To Live their flight experiences they were arriving, Moraima Sánchez and her aunt the Nun Sister Olga. The arrived from the town of Rincón, accompanied by Belkis Muñoz, who had recently flown with us.
Ian Darrell was in charge of Moraima‘s flight, while Luis was in charge of Sister Olga‘s flight.
Both were excellent flights experiences and they are very happy with it!. And that’s what it’s all about. Is the first time that Luis has a privilege of flying a Nun. God Bless 🙏!!!
Returning to Darwin and Abner story…
While Luis and Ian made the Demo flights, both Abner and Darwin continued with their altitude fly plans. Both were flying in the direction of Quebradillas and covers the towns of, Camuy, Hatillo and Arecibo, gaining altitude until both reached 14,010 ft. New National Record!!!. Congratulations 🙌!!!!
We must mention, that the past Altitude Record was held by Nixon Porrata, of 13,131 ft made in Machos Beach, Ceiba on Saturday, June 11, 2016, so, about 7 years ago!!!. Here you can see the video of Nixon Porrata setting the amazing Record.
It was also notable, as can be seen from the video of Abner is that he flew all the way to the Arecibo Lighthouse before returning to Isabela and his total consumption of gasoline during this entire journey was barely half of his tank capacity. He still had half the tank left to continue flying if he had chosen to. (About 8 liters).
Friday, May 19, 2023…
Luis Ruiz had previous appointment for the day, and went to Isabela together with Darwin Hernández to carry out some Demo flights in the morning. This time Heidy and Sonny arrived from Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina respectively.
In this morning the winds increased their intensity, and Darwin was assisting Luis in carrying out the flights. In fact, the perfect flight window ended in the morning, and in the afternoon there were rains for the entire island of Puerto Rico.
