A hot weekend where many of the pilots took a break from their activities and stayed at home. We were active on Saturday in La Guancha in Ponce and on Sunday in Villa Pesquera Isabela. In the end we had good flight opportunities, for those who were able to get to the activities…
Saturday, September 16… (Ponce)
We went to La Guancha in Ponce, the weather was good for flying until 2:30 PM, when a huge cloud approached the area ending the activities. Present were Wilkins Torres, his wife Brenda and son Wilkins Jr, as well as Luis Antonio, his wife Jesenia and daughters. Edgardo Rivera and his wife Wilnelia, the possible student Danny Torres from Adjuntas, and Instructor Luis Ruiz.
The first in list to fly were Edgardo and Luis, but this time Luis would fly alone, since Edgardo, performing a “Front Launch” Take Off, somehow broke the propeller pulley chord and could not take off. This situation complicated his day of flights as he tried to get the chord at some Auto Parts in the area without success. And later, when he decided to fly in one of Luis’s paramotors, it was too late as the cloud entered the area 😲.
In the meantime, Luis Antonio experienced a similar situation with the cloud. He arrived at the activity past midday, and by the time he was ready to fly, his flight was also canceled due to the cloud that entered the area.
The one who did fly with Luis was Wilkins. He took off and was flying for more than an hour. His takeoff and landing were good, and Wilkins continues to add flights to his record as a pilot.
We left the area at 3 PM, already preparing to visit Villa Pesquera Isabela early tomorrow.
Sunday, September 17… (Isabela)
Pretty good weather during the morning and part of the afternoon. This time Luis Ruiz was accompanied by his son Ian Darrell and the pilots Sammy Badillo and Alberto Sabah. Also arriving from Corozal, and accompanied by friends, was the student, José “Ronnie” Meléndez, and the possible student David Guzmán and his wife Cory.
Ian Darrell was in charge of carrying out a Demo flight for Nelson Esteves (Arecibo), who came to live his flight experience.
Luis Ruiz, apart from his flights with Sammy and Alberto, was giving training to Ronnie. He even ended up doing a Demo flight with Ronnie who was in charge of the controls for a long time while they flew.
At 3 PM, we ended the activity. Thank you to all the people who took a little of their time to share with us. God Bless!!!
