Unforgettable day for our new friends, and Paramotor pilots who visited us. This time, in addition to being present, Noah Hurley and Tanyel from Wyoming, arriving from North Carolina, the pilots Jeff Breckenridge, his wife Rachel, and Eduardo Back.
All of them arrived very early (8:30 AM) at Villa Pesquera Isabela. Some pilots and members of the Team Kamikazes Paramotor Puerto Rico were present. The instructor Luis Ruiz had the task of providing each of them with a Paramotor. Everyone had brought their paragliders, although Noah and Tanyel were using paragliders provided by Luis Ruiz, (Apco F1 and BGD Luna2).
Kamikaze Pilots and Family present at the activity…
Luis Ruiz
Paul Whitmore
Sammy Badillo
Fio Lopez
Alberto Sabah
The weather in the morning was perfect for flying. Light winds coming in from the NE were the norm. The pilots would have to Take Off using the Front Launch method. But that’s what they’re more used to. Everyone, time by time, took off and flew along the beach coasts of Isabela. This included the Kamikaze pilots present. At one point, there were 10 pilots flying together at the same time!!!
First Stop – The Guajataca route in Quebradillas…
Once all the pilots were in the air, the flight route took us to fly in the direction of the Guajataca Tunnel in Quebradillas. The visiting pilots were amazed by the beauty of the place and the smoothness of the flight. The beautiful scenery over the Royal Isabela and the Guajataca Tunnel were a plus!!!.
Once everyone landed and take a break, Luis Ruiz filled the paramotors again with gasoline and in the matters of minutes, everyone took off again. This time heading towards the other side, Jobos Beach.
A Motor Out and a Storm system approaching…
Around mid day, a high stormy cloud system was rapidly approaching the location. Some pilots wanted to fly again before the weather system arrived. Among the pilots who went out to fly were the locals Alberto Sabah and Sammy Badillo, together with Jeff and Eduardo from North Carolina. The rest of pilots preferred to rest after an intense morning flights.
This time, we had an unexpected incident. One of the Paramotors, the one Jeff used, failed, (possibly due to a Spark Plug?). He landed in some shrubbery… Eduardo, his flying partner, landed to help, but in a place that was very difficult to Take Off again. In some minutes everything had become complicated.
It turned out that Alberto and Sammy returned flying to Villa Pesquera, landed and went with their All Terrain vehicles to the rescue. Both pilots were in very good mood, and was raining a lot, they simply enjoyed the moment.
The Paraglider of Eduardo Back is very Wet…
In Eduardo‘s case, he was very worried since his BGD Luna 2 paraglider had fallen into salty water. So, he was looking for a way to wash it as quickly as possible. The quick solution doesn’t looks good at all…
Fortunately, Sammy Badillo took care of the paraglider at his home were he washed and dried it in the correct way. By the next day, the paraglider will be dry, clean and ready to be flown. Actually, looks like new!!!
WHAT A DAY… It was a very special and unforgettable day for our visiting pilots. Tomorrow, with God’s Favor, we will return to Isabela. The weather projections indicate that it will be very good to fly all day. Stay Tuned…
