Saturday, August 24, 2024 – Spreading Seeds for a noble cause and much, much more…

Today was a very special day. This time, and as we had previously coordinated, Luis Ruiz met early in the morning with Mr. Héctor “Tito” Varela, from the SurfRider Foundation of Puerto Rico.

Reforestation of Mangles together with “SurfRider” Foundation Puerto Rico…

We have been in dialogue for months, coordinating the use of Paramotors to help the SurfRider Foundation of Puerto Rico. Among their jobs, they are in charge of reforesting mangroves in Puerto Rico. Today the mission took us to the mangrove located next to the beach known as “Secret Spot” in Isabela.

Héctor and the foundation arrived early and with the seeds that were going to be planted in the place. Luis Ruiz’s job was to carry seeds in his Paramotor and throw them over the mangrove to places where the foundation does not have access on foot. For this work, Luis Ruiz received help from pilot Edgardo Rivera, who traveled from Aguas Buenas to be part of all this. The pilot Mario Muñiz and his wife Ivonne also joined this. This time, the weather conditions were strong. Gusty winds over 20 mph+ and active clouds were the order of the day.

Luis Ruiz coordinated with the foundation to carry out the work and once Edgardo arrived, flying from the “Shore Island” beach, them they dedicated themselves to receiving the seeds, taking off, launching them, landing and reloading. Due to the weather conditions, it was a demanding job that few pilots could have done, but the seeds were successfully planted. Here we leave some videos of the activity.

Aerial visit to Jobos Beach, Isabela…

After the reforestation work is completed. Luis Ruiz, Edgardo Rivera and Mario Muñiz, along with his wife Ivonne, met on Shore Island to spend the afternoon. Mario and Ivonne preferred to enjoy the sea breeze, while Luis and Edgardo had other plans.

Resting and with plans to go to Jobos Beach, in a very windy day…

They are going to fly to Jobos Beach and land at the place where a Beach Tennis event was being held along with other activities. It is notable to mention that the intensity of the winds was so strong that Luis Ruiz’s GPS recorded a speed of 61.5 mph as they approached Jobos.
