During the week of November 11 to 16, we had the visit of the Paramotor pilot, Joseph Tate, with his wife Helen. They comes from Tennessee, USA, and came to the island on the recommendation of other pilots who have previously visited us. Winter is the right time for our pilot friends from the USA to visit us and get away from the cold season and keep flying at beautiful Puerto Rico. This time we had rainy weather forecast for the whole week, and we would do our best to make the best of each day of flights…
Monday, November 11, 2024 – Isabela…
The morning hours were rainy (as expected) for the island. This is just like yesterday, Sunday, when activities had to be suspended. But, the bad weather system was moving away and in the afternoon we finally had conditions conducive to practice.
The meeting point was Villa Pesquera Isabela, Luis Ruiz was present with his son Noah Enrique and they met with Joseph and Helen. The winds were at 8 to 15 mph from the East. We took the opportunity to practice paragliding inflation, mostly by the Reverse Launch method.
Joseph is accustomed, as is common in the States, to goes flying by the “Front Launch” method. This time we took time to help Joseph with the control of the glider by Reverse Launch. Little Noah Enrique was helping Joseph with practice, while Luis Ruiz went in a Tandem fly with his wife Helen around the area. Was a good practice for Joseph!!!
Tuesday, November 12, 2024 – Isabela…
This time, finally, we have excellent weather for flying. Light winds of 5 mph from the NE were the norm for the day. Luis Ruiz provided Joseph with a Fly Products Eclipse paramotor and a Vittorazi Moster engine, and a noble BGD Magic 29-meter paraglider. With these conditions, Joseph had no problem flying. Together with Luis they flew the entire coast of Isabela, from Villa Montana, until reaching Guajataca in Quebradillas.
Joseph was literally flying all morning and part of the afternoon, consuming two tanks of gasoline. His wife Helen, on this occasion, remained in their villa resting.
Wednesday, November 13, 2024 – Ponce…
Given so much flying yesterday in Isabela, we decided today to change the scene. This time we went early to La Guancha in Ponce where we once again had excellent flying conditions.
This time the school students, Luis Antonio Cruz and Alexis Feliciano, also accompanied us. They were both practicing inflating their paragliders. In fact, it was a little complicated for them to practice due to the low intensity of the winds.
Joseph took of with the same equipment that used yesterday. He flew the entire area of La Guancha and the Ponce Hilton for about 1 hour and a half. For his part, Luis Ruiz went in Tandem Fly with his wife Helen, this time, due to the little space for take off, the Take Off was challenging. But we succeed and had a great time flying the surroundings.
Thursday, November 14, 2024 – Isabela…
A rainy morning, so, we took the opportunity to recharge our batteries. Later in the afternoon we decided to return to Villa Pesquera Isabela, and the weather had improved considerably.
This time, along with Luis Ruiz, Joseph and Helen, also came to fly the experience pilots Jomar Crespo and Darwin Hernández. We flew the entire coast, mostly together, Joseph, Luis Ruiz in Tandem flight with Helen, Jomar and Darwin. We were flying all afternoon, and Joseph‘s skin was already burning red from the sun and heat prevailing on the island.
Friday, November 15, 2024 – Stormy Weather and Sightseeing Tour…
Luis Ruiz attended to family commitments in the morning, while Joseph and Helen rested. In the afternoon, we had agreed to meet in Isabela, but the constant rain and cumulus clouds change our plans. In fact, a small tornado was recorded near our flight area and Joseph’s village, which confirmed that there was no chance to fly today…
Our Plan B was to go for a walk along the West coast, and we, Luis Ruiz and his little son Noah Enrique, took the opportunity to take Joseph and Helen along the beach coast of Aguada and Rincón, so they could see what this towns had to offer.
It was a pleasant and different ride. And with this we end the adventures of our new friends. Here we leave a video that best describes some of their adventures on the island during the week. Blessings!!!
