After our last two days in Juan Dolio, is time to leave early for the north coast, to the place known as “Las Terrenas”. It is the first time that Luis Ruiz visited the area, which is described by the locals as one of the most beautiful places in the entire Dominican Republic…
Friday, January 24, 2025…
We said goodbye to Santo Domingo in the morning and signed up for the “Las Terrenas” adventure were Roberto Rodríguez, David Tejeda, Luis Ruiz and his little son Noah Enrique. The trip took place under rain the entire travel and last a little over 3 hours.
Upon arrival, it were surrounded by mist and light rain, so, it was difficult to appreciate the beauty of the place at the moment.
Once there, we started by visiting the beach known as “El Cosón”, and from there we moved to other tourist places until we reached the town of “Las Terrenas”.
After choosing the place where we would stay, we evaluated our flight possibilities. In the afternoon the rain had stopped, and there was some possibility of flights.
Flight in “Las Terrenas” and eventual rescue?…
With a light wind coming in from the North, Luis Ruiz decided to go flying on “El Cosón” beach. This is Luis first time flying close to “Las Terrenas“, and flew comfortably around the area. But, he had left his GoPro camera on ground, so he went down to put it on so he could record the videos and images of the beauty place.
On Luis‘s second flight, now he ventured in the direction of the town of “Las Terrenas”. He was crossing some beaches, but due to the geography of the place, Luis misread the direction of the wind. Then, after passed some mountains, he encountered winds coming from inland with severe turbulence. (The wind was actually from the East direction, and Luis though was coming from South). He took precaution and landed on the “Escondido Beach”, a tourist place, where he was eventually rescued by the team.
Saturday, January 25, 2025…
The morning started better than expected, and from that perspective, we decide to stay during the day, to try to fly the coast as we previously planned. There’s was other option, visit the Mountain of Jarabacoa at the center of the Dominican Republic. There, was taking place a Accuracy Paragliding Competition, but we need to travel more than 3 hours again to arrive there. And that’s were the original plans, but, we decide to kept in “Las Terrenas” for this extra day.
We will be trying to fly in the afternoon, we stopped in “El Cosón” Beach, close to the friend of David, name Vidal Cosón, but the weather did not looks good.
So, this time at “Punta Poppy” where the geography of the place will bring us better options to cover the coast. This is a tourist place, so, we need to check how the Tourist Police acts when they see us flying…
A unexpected situation and we could not fly!!!
Everything was set for the fly, and then… appeared the Tourism Police of the area, indicating that Luis could not Fly from there. After some dialogue with them and their supervisors, explaining our plans and responsibility, the position of them was not reverted.
In the dialogue, they indicate that sometime ago, a group of Pilots from France, appear in the area and didn’t behave well, In fact, they talked about pilots crash landing in a Palm Tree and kept in there hanging for some time, and other stuff. And, for that reason, flying the beaches at least the Tourist Places of “Las Terrenas” was prohibited… So, this is what it is… At least, Luis handled to fly yesterday in some of this beaches without major issue.
We had a last chance at a “El Aleman” Beach, that is a beach at some 10 minutes from the Tourist Places, and probably we will visit in the future. David Tejeda, tried to Take Off from there, but the wind was again cross from inland…
Then, in the night, we travel back to Santo Domingo…
Sunday, January 26, 2025…
Today, in the afternoon, we will take Ferries del Caribe, to travel back to Puerto Rico. But, first, we need to packed our gears to be ready to travel in the afternoon. So, in the morning, we started to do it, when in the meantime, Noah Enrique, with just 9 years old, decide to prepare us the breakfast!!!. Amazing that at his age, he could help in that way. His mother, Jessica Cruz, should be very proud of him, as is his Dad. God Bless!!!
Luis Ruiz in other hand, was dismounting his Paramotor, the SkyMax Pulsar Version II, with a Vittorazi Moster MY22 engine. Is notable, how small and fast it could be dismount in order to get in a normal briefcase for Travel. For Paramotor pilots looking for a foldable, reliable and ultra light Paramotor for traveling, this is one of the best option if not the best.

Visiting Benjamin Egli and gets back in Train…
After mostly everything was ready to Travel, we visited the long time friend, and the face of the Paramotor history in Dominican Republic, Benjamin Egli. He was assisting us with a Pickup, that this time we don’t use, but we appreciate always his effort assisting us in whatever need that we have. Thanks!!!
We share some time at his home, with him and his wife Maike, his son Bastian and relatives. Was a funny moment when Noah find the room of toys of Benjamin, sadly for Noah, he didn’t have time for it, as happens before at David‘s house, jaja.
Then we took the opportunity to travel back to David‘s house using the Train system in the capital, Santo Domingo. Here, we share some videos of the experience…
At Ferries del Caribe, with some stories…
In the afternoon, we gets to Ferries del Caribe. There, the friends and pilots Roberto Rodriguez and David Tejeda were present helping with everything in the area. Thank You very much for ALL the attentions. At one point arrived the friend and pilot Berto Garcia, who was in Dominican Republic with his family in the north region of Cabarete.
We traveled back to Puerto Rico together, and here we show some of the night shows at Ferries that close the adventure of this Trip. We hope to return back as soon as possible. Perhaps in this 2025 again? Stay Tuned…
