Whenever Edgardo Rivera arrives at one of the activities, there are always stories to tell, worthy of being remembered by future generations. And today was no exception. Along with Edgardo Rivera and Luis Ruiz also arrived the pilots, Wilkins “Chino” Morales and Miguel Orona. Also, Mario Muniz and Ivonne Valdez stopped to say Hi.
The morning did not start well… (Coast Guard and Loose Keys)
The stories of the day began very early in the morning, yes… Edgardo Rivera who arrived at sunrise, was already flying before 7 AM… BUT… on this occasion, things did not turn out as well as we expected. It turns out that when Luis arrived at Isabela at around 8:30 AM, the Coast Guard personnel of the area were in Villa Pesquera waiting for Edgardo to land !!!

Once Edgardo landed, we gets in a good dialogue with the Coast Guard personnel emphasizing flight safety. we talked about the Airport, the space for operations and the necessary communication, due to their helicopters that also fly in the area, (as in the morning). The meeting was very productive. Is worth mention that these regulations had been (and will be) discussed with each pilot who flies in the area.
But for Edgardo…, that situation was just part of the morning… It gets worse… turns out that while he was flying, he lost the keys of his vehicle (again). After some minutes of an intensive looks in the area of Take Off and Land, there’s no chance. The keys of his car was lost and he need to resolve to get out of there. among the alternatives to resolve.
After evaluating options, the most convenient was to call his friend and student of Paramotor, William Montalvo, who eventually traveled all the way from San Juan to Aguas Buenas to pick the copy keys, and then traveled to Isabela to bring the copies to Edgardo Definitively, a difficult morning for Edgardo…
But finally, gets better… The Speed Record…
As the day progressed, the wind increased in intensity. So, Miguel decided not go flying, instead kept practicing on ground. However, Chino Morales managed to Take Off with his new ITV Sport paraglider. Chino is showing a great progress in the sport, now flying with the big guys in winds conditions of over 20 mph+. Congratulations!!!
In the meantime, Luis and Edgardo did some flights around the area, Luis on his trusty Sky Zorro 22, and Edgardo…, this time was testing probably the fastest paraglider in Puerto Rico today… Luis’s 18 meter Sky Z Blade.
Well, give a toy like that to Edgardo, and with winds exceeding 22 mph+, that means ADVENTURE TIME…
Edgardo began to test the speeds that were possible with the paraglider and he find himself flying close to a ground speed of 60 mph constant when goes downwind. In some turns his GPS shows over 70 mph+ (his old record). This time he reached a maximum ground speed downwind of 77 mph!!!. We understand that to date it is the highest ground speed achieved on the island by any Paramotor pilot!!! Impressive!!!
After that we take it easy, was a hard day full of emotions. Until next time. Always, Thank God for all this opportunities that he give us!!!
